πŸš€Getting Started

LeoLeads is a building permit leads dashboard. It surfaces recently filed building permits from city open data, displayed on an interactive map. Contractors, sales reps, and investors use it to find new project opportunities before the competition.
All permit data comes from official city open data portals (e.g., LA Open Data). We fetch and normalize permits continuously so you always see the latest filings. Data is public and provided as-is - always verify details with the issuing agency.
We poll the LA City Open Data API continuously with a refresh interval under 5 minutes. New permits typically appear within minutes of being published by the city.
LeoLeads includes full map and table access, filtering, favorites, lead tracking, and phone number lookups - all completely free.

πŸ—ΊοΈUsing the Dashboard

Use the search bar at the top to find permits by address or description. You can also filter by work type (kitchen, solar, etc.), permit type, valuation range, status, and more using the filter bar.
Smart categories automatically classify permits by the type of work described (kitchen remodel, solar installation, ADU, etc.). They are based on keyword matching in the permit description, so you can quickly find the types of projects you care about.
Click the heart icon on any permit card or table row. Saved permits appear when you toggle the "Saved" filter. Favorites are stored in your browser - they do not sync across devices yet.
An owner-builder permit means the property owner pulled the permit themselves instead of hiring a licensed contractor. This is a strong lead signal - it often means the homeowner plans to do the work themselves but may need professional help. Use the Owner-Builder filter in the filter bar to find these high-intent leads.
Each permit gets a score from 0-100 based on four factors: recency (40%) - newer permits score higher, valuation (25%) - higher-value projects score higher, data completeness (20%) - permits with more details score higher, and rarity (15%) - less common permit types in the area score higher. Hover over any score badge to see the breakdown.
The pipeline is a Kanban-style board where you can track permits through your sales process: Contacted - Estimated - Won - Lost. Change a permit's status from the detail panel, and it will appear in the corresponding pipeline column.
Yes! Open a permit's detail panel and scroll to the Notes section. You can add text notes, and they will persist locally in your browser. Notes are visible in the pipeline view too.

πŸ“ŠMap & Table Views

The map loads permits within your current viewport (what you can see on screen). Pan and zoom to explore different areas. At lower zoom levels, permits are clustered by zip code. Click a cluster to zoom in, or click a pin to see permit details.
Yes - use the Map/Table toggle in the filter bar (desktop). On mobile, the map is always shown with a bottom sheet for the permit list. The table view offers sortable columns, pagination, and an export button.
In table view, use the Export button in the toolbar. You can export to CSV or PDF. The export includes all permits matching your current filters.

πŸ”’Account & Data

No - you can use LeoLeads without signing in. Your favorites, notes, and preferences are saved in your browser. Creating an account (coming soon) will let you sync data across devices and enable email alerts.
All permit data is public information from city open data portals. Your personal data (favorites, notes, preferences) is stored locally in your browser and is not sent to our servers. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Permit data comes directly from city records and reflects what the applicant reported. Descriptions can range from detailed to vague depending on who filed. Valuations are estimated project costs declared at filing time - they may not match final costs. Smart categories use keyword matching which catches most permits but may miss unusual wording. Always verify details with the issuing agency before making business decisions.
Currently, Los Angeles is fully supported with 70,000+ active permits. San Francisco is in beta. Houston and Phoenix are launching H2 2026. Enterprise customers can request priority for any metro.
